Abstract

597,585. Push-button tuning mechanism. CRAMER, S. S. April 18, 1945, No. 9705. Convention date, May 2, 1944. [Class 40 (v)] A push-button tuning arrangement comprises a number of sliding units, each provided with a member which upon depression of the corresponding button engages the tuning means and moves it into one of its extreme positions, and an adjustable stop member whereby the return of the tuning means upon release of the button is arrested at a predetermined point. Each unit comprises a push button 19 engaging a tuning plate 7 which slides alongside a setting plate 8 held in position by a spring 27. When a button 19 is depressed the corresponding tuning plate 7 is engaged at 16 and is moved, causing a lug 9 on the plate 7 to contact the positioning member 10 of a tuning member 13 and move it to one of its extreme positions. At the same time a spring 35 attached to the plate 7 lifts a stopping pawl 28 pivoted on the setting plate 8 into the return path of the member 10. Any engaging pawl 28 in the remaining units is released from engagement with the member 10 upon its movement by the lug 9 of the unit being depressed. On release of the button 19, the tuning plate 7 returns to normal position, and the tuning member 13 is driven by suitable means (not shown) towards its other extreme position until stopped by engagement of the member 10 with the raised pawl 28. The button 19 is slidably mounted on a threaded rod 21 engaging with a threaded lug 23 on the setting plate 8, the position of the setting plate 8 and hence the tuning being adjusted by rotation of the push button 19.
