Abstract

775,153. Door fastenings. FRANCESCO, P., [trading as FRANCESCO PRIMA FABBRICA ITALIANA SERRATURE, P.]. March 31, 1955 [Feb. 3, 1955], No. 9388/55. Class 44. A locking mechanism for a door knob comprises a push-button 3, means 4 for urging the push button into its inoperative position, means mounted on the knob to operate, when pressure is applied to the push-button, a pin or plunger 10 to cause positive locking of the knob against rotation, such last mentioned means being operable on subsequent further like movement of the push-button to release the pin or plunger to permit rotation of the knob. The pin or plunger 10 is slidably mounted so that it can engage a hole (not shown) in a rose 12 which is secured to the door. The pin 10 is loaded by a spring 13 to its inoperative position and is moved to its operative position by a rotatable cam 7 which is moved by a ratchet wheel 6 and a pawl 5 the pawl being connected to the push button 3. The means 4 is a spring and since the cam 7 is of rectangular shape with rounded corners one depression of the push button moves the pin 10 into the hole in the rose and the next depression moves it out of the hole to its inoperative position.
