Abstract
1,094,338. Thermal switches. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. May 17, 1966 [May 18, 1965], No. 21083/65. Heading H2B. A temperature responsive switch includes a rack 9 having a plurality of teeth 9a . . . 9d of successively increasing depth, a spring 11 biasing the rack 9 to a position in which the switch (5), (Fig. 1, not shown), is " off ", a pivoted latch 8 engageable with the teeth to latch the rack in four distinct " on " positions of the switch to which the rack is movable by a manually rotatable spindle 6 having a pinion (7c) engaging the rack and a cam surface (7b) acting on the plunger of the microswitch (5), and a temperature sensitive bulb and expansible diaphragm (2c) movable to release the latching projection 8a to unlatch the rack 9 for return to the "off" position from any of its " on " positions when the selected temperature is reached. The diaphragm (2c) acts on latch lever 8 through an adjustment screw 14.
