Abstract
963,621. Retractive switches; snap-action switches. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. March 19, 1962 [April 28, 1961], No. 10487/62. Heading H2B. A switch comprises an outer shell 10 housing the switch mechanism, and a button member 21 slidably mounted in an opening 14 in the shell wall such that when button 21 is slid in either of two opposed directions switch actuator 16 slides so that a ramp 23 thereon actuates the switch mechanism via a leaf spring 58, a spring 24 automatically returning the actuator 16 to its inoperative position after it has been slid in one only of the two directions (i.e. to the right) and the manually applied pressure removed. Ramp 23 rests in a notch 60 of leaf spring 58 when actuator 16 is in its inoperative position, and when slid to the left the ramp rests on a flat land portion 59 of leaf spring 58 maintaining the spring 58 in a depressed condition operating a mioroswitoh button 56. Alternatively the ramp is positively held on the land portion by a stop on the leaf spring (Figs. 8, 9, not shown). Spring 24 is located in a channel of actuator button 21 formed by spaced parallel portions 22 providing two ramps 23 for actuating two microswitch buttons 56. The switch housing is in two parts 32, 32a, which are screwed together inside the outer shell 10.
