[Class 44] In door latch furniture of the kind described in the parent Specification, the stem 4 of the handle or knob 5, which supports the stopplate 13 is provided with longitudinal slots 16 for the reception of inwardly-directed projections 15 formed on the stop-plate, and the latter is preferably retained in position by a spring ring or clip 20 engaging in a circumferential groove in the stem 4, or alternatively by a locking device or a locking pin. The length of the slots 16 determines the distance of the stop-plate from the inner end of the stem and limits the axial movement of the stem relatively to the boss 2 of the plate 1. The usual coil spring 17 is provided to urge the stop-plate and handle to one of the limits of angular movement.
