Abstract
577,760. Door handles. LACRINOID PRODUCTS, Ltd., and ADIE, G. M. April 19, 1944, No. 7242. [Class 44] In a door latch the door knob 1 is retained on a tubular boss 2 of the rose by means of a spring catch which is seated partly in each of the telescoping surfaces of the knob and the boss and the latch spindle 20 is coupled with the knob. In Figs. 1 and 2 rods 4 engage apertures in the boss 2 and are mounted on springs 5 engaging in groove 9 in the knob 1. A shallow groove 7 receives the springs 5 when they are compressed to allow the knob 1 to be slid on to the boss 8 when assembling the parts. In a modification both rods 4 are mounted on the ends of a single leaf spring. In a further modification the catch is a spring ring engaging grooves in the boss and the knob. In a still further modification the catches are mounted in parallel bores extending in opposite directions.
