[Class 75 (iii)] The snuffer, snuffer arm, or lid or other member carrying the snuffer of a lighter is formed as a hinged torch to facilitate lighting pipes, fires, gas burners, &c. In Fig. 1, a wick 21 in the snuffer arm 18 protrudes beyond the snuffer cap 17 so as to make contact with a wick 15 extending into the fuel container 10. When the snuffer arm is'raised and the friction wheel 12 has been rotated in contact with a spring-pressed flint to .ignite the wick 15, the lighter is inclined to ignite the wick 21. The arm 18 and snuffer cap 17 are preferably sheathed with plastic or other material 22 of low heat conductivity. The nipple through which the wick 15 passes may be yieldingly mounted on a spring. The wick 21 may be in two sections and the rear portion of the arm 18 may be fitted with a-grub screw to allow insertion of the horizontal wick section. In a modification shown in Fig. 5, the wick 21 is normally in contact with the absorbent material projecting through a bore 34 in the wick holder.
