Abstract
596,158. Paper and like bags. ROBINSON, Ltd., E. S. & A., DAVIES, K. W., ASHMAN, A., and THOMSON, K. R. July 23, 1945, No. 18820. [Class 94 (ii)] A block-bottom, "sift-proof" bag is provided with notches 17, 18 and, maybe, 19, 20 at the edges of blanks 10, before, or after being formed into a tube 15 by securing edges 14, 16 by adhesive 11. The notches facilitate the formation of the diamond-shaped 'bottom made by folding along crease-lines 25, 26, so that notches 17, 18 lie as in Fig. 3, and afterwards by folding on lines 23, Fig. 4. Adhesive strips 24, 21 and 27 are provided. In a modification the positions of some of these strips are varied, or certain strips may be dispensed with. If notches 19, 20 are provided they may be used to facilitate opening the bag by insertion of a thumb. The shapes of the notches may be varied. Adhesive may be dispensed with if the bag material is coated with a heat or pressure sealing substance. The bag may be formed of plastic material such as rubber hydro-chloride.
