Abstract

595,260. Electron multipliers and circuits therefor. FARNSWORTH TELEVISION & RADIO CORPORATION. Dec. 6, 1944, No. 24445. Convention date, April 26, 1943. [Classes 39 (i), 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] The gain of an electron multiplier amplifying the output of a television image dissector tube is varied in accordance with the tube cathode current, and hence the mean brightness of the scene, by applying the potential across a resistor 43 in the cathode circuit to a multiplier electrode 24, to vary its potential, and hence its gain. The potential across resistor 43 is also applied to valve 44 in the focus circuit so that the focus is not affected by variations in anode potential caused by the inclusion of resistor 43.
