Abstract
595,109. Signs. FRANCO-BRITISH ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd., and BRACKENSEY, A. H. July 4, 1945, No. 17094. [Class 3 (ii)] A sign, which may be double-sided, comprises a sheet of cement-asbestos in which depressions are formed by sand-blasting with the aid of a stencil to delineate the legend &c. Fig. 1 shows part of a letter 3 formed by making a depressed surround in the sheet 1, a rim 2 being also left upstanding. The surround may be coated with lead or other metal 4 sprayed thereon, or with a bituminous or other thermo-setting material. which may be poured on while hot, holes being formed, if desired, in the backing to assist in holding the coating in place. When the legend is depressed, a channel may be formed also below the ledge, and the intermediate surround be painted, the legend and channel being coated with lead &c.
