Abstract

121,120. Jacobs, A. N. P. Nov. 12, 1918. Signs.-A sign is cast of cement mortar with the lettering embossed, depressed, or flush with the surface. Wooden types are employed for the embossed or depressed forms, either directly or to make letter moulds of cement. The moulds or types are arranged side by side and surrounded by a frame into which the cement is poured. To produce flush lettering, a cement of a colour different from the background is poured into letter moulds, and metal netting is pressed on to the backs thereof to adhere thereto. When dry, the cement letters and the netting are placed in a frame and cement cast round them. The finished sign is gilded, painted, &c.
