Abstract
383,259. Photomechanical printing surfaces. VOGTL€NDISCHE MASCHINENFABRIK VORM. J. C. & H. DIETRICH AKT.-GES., Plauen, Vogtland, Germany. Feb. 3, 1931, No. 3459. Convention date, Feb. 11, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 98 (ii).] A printing plate comprises a thin layer of metal secured to a base by a non-metallic intermediate layer, the non-printing areas of the metal layer being etched away and the underlying portions of the intermediate layer removed by washing. The Figure shows a finished plate. The metal layer 3 may consist of zinc foil rolled on to the intermediate layer 2 or may be electrolytically deposited or sprayed on the layer 2. The base 1 may be of iron, electron, brass or other metal, textile material, rubber cloth or pasteboard, and the layer 2 of caoutchouc, guttapercha, spirit lac or tar asphalt. The design may be applied to the layer 3, prior to etching, by a photographic method.
