Abstract
193,864. Dresdensia Matern-und Stereotypie-Anstalt C. W. Woehler. Feb. 24,1922, [Convention date]. Electrotype; stencils. -- Printing-surfaces are prepared by the following process. A thin layer of a soft resist such as a mixture of wax, paraffin, ceresine, turpentine, asphalte, and graphite, is laid over a metal or other base, and the design is drawn on this with a stylus, the layer being removed down to the background. Metal is then deposited electrolytically so as to form when detached a plate with raised lines. The base should be of a material not attacked by the electrolytic bath, e.g. a lead alloy. When the base is of insulating material, the resist is rendered conducting, the resulting deposit being in the form of a stencil. The mould may be " built-up " by applying wax to the parts of the layer not removed. The deposit is removed by heating. Several plates may be made from the same mould. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 2681/92 and 24567/97, [both in Class 101, Printing other than letterpress &c.].
