[Class 140] [Also in Group XV] Ornamental designs are produced on fabrics by placing the fabric over a layer of finely divided solid coating material, applying adhesive to the fabric in the desired pattern and impressing it therethrough, applying finely divided solid coating material to the upper surface of the fabric and applying pressure to unite the coating material to the fabric where the adhesive is applied. The adhesive may be applied by use of a metal stencil, a silk or wire screen, a template, or by patterned rollers, plates or blocks. The coating material on one side of the fabric may differ in colour or character from that on the other side. Mottled effects may be produced by using coloured adhesive contrasting in colour with the coating material. The coating material may be flocking powder, tinsel, shredded or granular powdered material or metallic dust,' and the adhesive may be casein, glue, rubber cement or latex, clear, stained or pigmented cellulose, paint or varnish.
