Abstract

594,365. Stuffing-boxes. ROGERS, D. May 29, 1945, No. 13415. [Class 122 (v)] In a piston gland packing assembly for insertion in a stuffing- box 6 comprising end rings A and D and a series of intermediate rings B and C, the faces of the rings are formed with annular recesses R, R2 at the inside providing a complete housing for the packing ring P. Annular recesses R1 and projections T1 are also formed on the faces of the rings and so arranged that the projection at the face of one ring engages with the recess on the opposing face of the adjoining ring, the outer faces of the end rings being made plane. The outer end ring is provided with a flange at its free face for connection to the flange 6A of the stuffing-box.
