[Class 122 (v)] An oil seal of the kind comprising a flexible sealing ring c contained within a housing formed of inner and outer L- shaped members a, b, between end faces of which a flange c<1> of the flexible ring is gripped, has the inner member split so as to form between adjacent ends a small gap g, enabling this member to effect a positive engagement with the flexible ring.
