[Class 20(ii)] A metal ladder has its sides 5 of C section so that they may interlock with thosc of another ladder having its sides 6 of similar cross-section but reversed with respect. to the first, to form an extensible ladder. The rungs are tubular, corrugated longitudinally and formed with shoulders 8 against which the ladder sides abut. The rungs are expanded into the holes in the ladder sides and their ends swaged over. Spring- loaded hooks 11 with finger levers 12 are pivoted on blocks 10 secured to a lower rung on the extending ladder to engage a selected rung on the lower ladder.
