Abstract

593,857. Mechanical toys. ADAM, H. A. June 15, 1945, No. 15259. [Class 132 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXV] The electric motor of a mechanical toy, such as a boat, car, locomotive or aeroplane, is entirely enclosed by a casing which is formed in two parts, the parts being adapted to be secured together around the motor leaving the shaft of the motor projecting from one end of the casing. At least one of the parts of the casing has a framework, which may be made up of lugs or ribs moulded, cast or pressed on the interior side of the casing part, for securing the motor in position within the casing. The division between the parts is preferably located in a plane of symmetry and the parts may be clipped together or interconnected by screw-threaded members. Preferably the parts are so formed exteriorly as to resemble in outline a small replica of an internal combustion engine or other engine, while the interior framework may be substantially rectangular so as to bear upon the lateral faces or poles of the permanent or other field magnet, upon the head or yoke of the magnet at one end and upon a bracket which forms a brush-holder and shaft-bearing at the other end. In Fig. 1, a part of a casing is shown having an interior rib e within which the electric motor is positioned, screws g for securing the the casing parts together and parts c, r, s, and t simulating respectively an electric starting motor, a multicylinder block, a flywheel cover and a gearbox.
