Abstract

591,959. Bottle &c. closure caps. GLOCKER, G. Feb. 21, 1945, No. 4368. Convention date, June 5, 1944. [Class 125 (iii)] The top part of a bottle &c. closure cap is formed with an annular channel 14 for receiving the upper edge of an annular deformable sealing gasket 18 the lower edge of which is adjacent the bottom of a skirt 16 depending from the outer wall of the channel, the free edge of the skirt being turned inwardly and upwardly at 24 to engage the bottom edge of the gasket and thereby compress it preferably to an inwardlybowed condition, and force its upper edge into tight contact with the base of the channel. A part of the portion 24 may engage, also, the inner face of the gasket. A channel 32 may be formed in the cap in line with a passage 30 in the skirt so that a piercing tool 34 may be inserted to break the vacuum and permit easy removal of the cap. The cap is re-usable.
