Abstract
591,842. Fluid-actuating mechanism for valves. FRIEDMAN, L. March 23, 1945, No. 7415. [Class 135] A device for automatically controlling the supply of gas to the burners of a water heater in response to the difference in pressure on either side of a constricted orifice, e.g. a venturi, in the water supply pipe comprises a metal casing e, which communicates with one side of the orifice and houses a flexible, e.g. rubber, capsule f spaced from its side wall. The upper face of the capsule carries an inverted cup member s secured to the lower end of a 'gas control rod g, while the lower face is apertured and secured to the base of the casing by a hollow connector h and a nut p and is open to the other side of the orifice through the pipe r. The capsule may be of corrugated bellows form.
