Abstract

<PICT:0614475/III/1> <PICT:0614475/III/2> <PICT:0614475/III/3> Surfaces such as ceilings are sprayed with media of more or less liquid character (such as distempers) by projecting the media in finely divided state under pressure into a zone surrounded by another zone of lower pressure, both of which communicate in proximity close enough to the surface being sprayed to ensure good distribution of the medium and abstraction of surplus through the zone of lower pressure. Referring to the drawings, two funnel-shaped members 1, 2 are used, the smaller funnel 1 being secured within funnel 2. A tubular extension 3 of outer funnel 2 is connected to an air exhausting pump. Mouthpiece 4 is marginally connected by flexible material 5 to outer funnel 2 and is acted on by a spring 6 anchored to 2 and to a flap 7 of the mouthpiece. Studs 8 on mouthpiece and flap prevent contact with the ceiling. Part of one wall of funnel 1 is cut away at 1a. The nozzle comprises a cylindrical body 9 connected to inlet pipe 10 and has a gapped ring 11 abutting against a metal cover 12 and so allows a broad peripheral discharge. The feed is controlled by cock 15 passing through guide tube 16 which is axially adjustable. The cock 15 may be unscrewed, thus allowing the nozzle and pipe 10 to be removed.
