Abstract
Ferrous alloys, particularly suitable for use at high temperatures, have the following composition:- .C.0.20- 0.60 per cent .Cr.12.00-22.00 per cent .Nl.10.00-30.00 per cent .Mo.2.00- 6.00 per cent .W.2.00- 6.00 per cent .Nb.2.00- 6.00 per cent Fe, together with the usual impurities, the remainder The specified proportion of niobium may include a small proportion of tantalum. Within the above ranges of proportions, preferred proportions for the elements are as follows: carbon 0.30-0.60 per cent., molybdenum, tungsten and niobium in substantially equal amounts, each from 3.00-5.00 per cent., chromium up to 20.00 per cent., nickel up to 25 per cent. An alloy is referred to of the following composition:- .C.0.45 per cent. approximately .Cr.14.00 per cent. approximately .Nl.20.00 per cent. approximately W, Mo, Nb each 4.00 per cent. approximately Fe, and the usual impurities in the usual amounts, the remainder.
