590,331. Utilizing tidal energy. McGUFFIE, P. D. June 23, 1944, No. 11922. Drawings to Specification. [Class 69 (i)] In deriving energy from tidal power, the water is constrained to flow through a passageway in a barrage having openings approximately at or below spring tide low water level. The passageway may be of inverted U- or V-shape with the turbine or other generating apparatus at or near the uppermost point therein ; further, superposed passageways may be.provided with a generating apparatus near the upper part of each passageway. Vacuum pumps may be provided for priming the passageways under low water conditions. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 127,154, 140,573, 154,188, 171,346, 219,323 and 228,631, [all in Class 69 (i)].
