Abstract
590,124. Drying pottery. MADDOCK & SONS, Ltd., J., MADDOCK, R. A., and JOHNSON, J. A. April 13, 1945, No. 9230. [Class 34 (ii)] In a pottery drying store in which the goods are carried by means of a swinging May conveyer or similar moving carrier 12, the supports 13 for goods are of such a nature that the goods are held in an inclined position and heating means are arranged to subject the goods to direct impact of heat. Each swinging tray 13 is in the form of a V section unit adapted to receive a mould 14 and support it at any suitable angle, whereby the goods in the mould can be subjected to a direct blast of hot air from the nozzles 17 in the air flowing units 15 and 16. The used air is exhausted via the duct 20 and passed by means of a fan 19 through a heater 21 back to the air blowing units. The air blowing units may be replaced by infra-red radiators or lamps. In a modification the drying zone of the store is horizontal, in which case inclined shelves replace the V-shaped supports 13. Specification 565,989 is referred to.
