Abstract

590,069. Holders for discharge tubes. BRITISH MECHANICAL PRODUCTIONS, Ltd., and DEAKIN, S. T. Aug. 23, 1944, No. 16100. [Class 38 (i)] A valve-holder is provided with an insulating barrel formed with openings 2, each housing a contact element comprising a metal strip having a tag portion 8 and a portion doubled back and divided centrally so as to form a U-shaped valve-pin receiving member 10, 11, the sides of which are bowed inwards to provide an extended contact area. When the element is inserted into an opening 2, the tag 8 first enters an aperture 6 and then springs sideways as a notch 13 on the element enters a reduced part 7 of the aperture, locating the element in the barrel. The holder may be secured to the chassis of a wireless set by a sheet metal saddle, Figs. 8, 9 (not shown), having tongues which are forced inwards to engage axial grooves 15, while a flange on the holder rests on the saddle. Alternatively, the holder may be secured as described in Specification 578,391.
