Abstract
589,462. Reciprocating pumps. NATHAN MANUFACTURING CO. March 20, 1945, No. 6959. Convention date, May 27, 1944. [Class 102 (i)] A reciprocating pump comprises a number of pistons 11 arranged'parallel to a shaft 20 having - a crank pin 24 with a throw equal to crank pins 29 formed in each piston. A plate 25 connects each crank pin\ so that rotation of the shaft 20 rotates all the pistons. Each crank 29 is formed with a pivot 30 that is connected by a link 31 to a pivot 32 attached to the casing and offset from the axis of the piston 11 so that the piston is reciprocated as it revolves. The position of the pivot 32 is adjustable to vary the stroke of the piston. The pump casing has an inlet 12 that is connected to a chamber 14 to which the cylinders are connected by ports 16; ports 17 lead to delivery outlets 18. The piston has an axial passage 15b connected by a transverse passage 15a to a vertical groove 15 in the surface that co-operates with the suction and outlet ports 15, 17.
