Abstract
589,460. Fluid actuated valves. ALDIS BROS., Ltd., and ALDIS, A. C. W. March 19, 1945, No. 6879. [Class 135] A valve for controlling the supply of cooling- air to a mercury vapour signalling lamp comprises a hollow body having an inlet a and an outlet b with an intermediate closure member d and annular seating c, a hollow cylinder e containing a spring-loaded piston f connected to the closure member by a rod h and a chamber n communicating with the cylinder. The chamber has an air inlet v and contains a spring-loaded disc or ball closure member p controlling the port o from the chamber to the cylinder, the latter or the piston having a restricted vent m through which air admitted to the cylinder can flow. An electromagnet w is provided for actuating the closure member p through the core y, a member r movable with the closure member p and carrying an electrical ring contact s being adapted to connect with the fixed electrical contacts t to operate a tell-tale lamp when the closure member p is fully open.
