Abstract

589,367. Boxes for chickens. FIELD, SONS & CO., Ltd., and TOMLIN, F. Jan. 26, 1945, No. 2086. [Class 18] Boxes for conveying chickens and the like are formed from blanks comprising a polygonal base 1 having side panels 3, 4 connected to alternate edges and wing flaps 2 connected to the intermediate edges. Extension flaps 5, 6 provided at each end of alternate side panels 4 are adapted to fold round the wing flaps 2 and overlap the adjacent side panels 3. Clips 7 secure the extension flaps 6 to the side panels 3 and support the box in an erect position. Ventilation holes are provided in the extension flaps 5. Alternatively, extension flaps may be provided on all of the side panels and overlap each other on the side defined by the wing flaps 2. A lid of similar construction may be used. According to the Provisional Specification a lining ring may be inserted in the box. Specification 357,880 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
