[Class 122 (iii)] [Also in Group XXIX] A platen press for sheet material comprises at least one platen g to which pressure is applied by means of a pressure fluid supplied to one or more inflatable bags or diaphragms c which directly or indirectly transmit pressure to the platen or platens to press the material n over a substantial length thereof. The fixed upper platen j and the movable platen g are provided with bores i through which a heating medium is circulated. The box f may be supplied with a cooling medium to protect the inflatable bag c. The bag is supported on a base d and is supplied with pressure fluid through pipes h.
