Abstract
660,577. Hydraulic presses. BERTHELSEN, V. Feb. 3, 1948. [Feb. 5, 1946] No. 3078/48. Class 69 (ii). [Also in Group VIII] A hydraulic press, especially a veneering press, comprises at least two unitary frames, each having piston and cylinder means 4 mounted on the bottom thereof, a fixed platen 2 which is positioned through the frame openings and connected to the lower surface of the top parts of the frames to hold the frames together, and a movable platen 3 which is operated by the pistons. The bottom parts of the frames are interconnected by stiffening-elements 8. The platens are heated, and to avoid tension in the lower part of the press, the elements 8 are heated, preferably by steam from a conduit 9 connected to the platen 3. The element 8 may consist of bolts which are heated by electricity or gas. Specification 660,578 is referred to.
