Abstract

840,949. Packaging. CELLOPHANE INVESTMENT CO. Ltd. Feb. 27, 1958 [March 28, 1957], No. 6422/58. Class 94(1). Articles are packaged by enclosing between two thermoplastic or thermoplastic coated sheets, one of which is heated and drawn about the articles and on to the other by vacuum. A sheet 2 carrying articles 1 is laid on a mesh 3 supported by a piston 4. The other sheet 10 is clamped across the mouth of a cylinder 5 and heated by infra-red lamps 13. The piston rises, vacuum is applied to the space between the sheets via the mesh and passages 7 and the sheet 10 is drawn over the articles and heat seals itself to the sheet 2. If desired additional peripheral sealing pressure may be applied by a member 14. An insert with marks for indicating the location of the articles may be sandwiched below the articles.
