Abstract
978,207. Perforating thermoplastic sheets. KENDALL CO. July 5, 1963 [July 6, 1962], No. 26800/63. Heading B5A. In a perforating machine comprising a pattern roller 10 and a smooth roller 40, the roller 40 is forced against the roller 10 by a pneumatic piston 67 acting through arms 45, 46. The various joints in the linkage are provided with ballbearings to ensure that the rollers are kept parallel during operation. The roller 10 is heated by electric elements in holes 16 and is adjustably mounted (see Fig. 3, not shown). The roller 40 is heated to a higher temperature by an electric heater 55 connected through slip rings 53, 71. The tape which may be faced with " Cellophane " (Registered Trade Mark) and a backing sheet of, e.g. polythene may be fed through the nip by rollers 24, 25, 26, 27.
