Abstract
587,229. Anti-freeze compositions. LEVENSON, W. Oct. 6, 1942, No. 14020. [Class 29] An anti-freezing composition is prepared by dissolving sodium nitrite in water to form a saturated solution at ordinary temperature, and thereafter dissolving potassium nitrite in the said solution to saturation. Such a composition has a freezing point of -40‹C, or lower, and does not attack alloys comprising aluminium, zinc, or copper and also protects ferrous metals against corrosion.
