Abstract
A trisazo dyestuff is manufactured by coupling the diazoazo compound from one molecular proportion of tetrazotized benzidine and one of salicylic acid with the monoazo compound obtained by coupling diazotized aniline-2 : 5-disulphonic acid with resorcinol. The product dyes leather in orange-brown shades; e.g. full chrome calf skins in the blue are drummed with an aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate to produce a surface pH of 6-6.5, washed, drummed with an aqueous solution of the dyestuff with the addition of formic acid in the course of the dyeing, and then fat liquored, struck out and dried.
