Abstract

584,953. Swash plate pumps. NEW YORK AIR BRAKE CO. Aug. 16, 1944, No. 15643. Convention date, Dec. 17, 1943. [Class 102 (i)] In a pump in which several cylinders are arranged parallel and around a shaft 11 and the plungers 9 are reciprocated by swash plates, each plunger is fitted with a shoe having a partly spherical surface 25 engaging the plunges and a flat surface 26 engaging a ring 23 bearing against the swash plate. A short spring 28 is fitted between a collar 24 on the plunger and a sleeve 27 sliding in the plunger and having a portion extending within the spring and a collar portion having a conical end that bears against a second swash plate 29 mounted on the shaft 11 and having an angle slightly different to the other swash plate so that the movements of the sleeve 27 correspond to the movement of the plunger.
