Abstract
848,200. Swash plate pumps. NEW YORK AIR BRAKE CO. April 9, 1958 [June 13, 1957], No. 11190/58. Class 102(1). The reactions of a plate 42 operating the pistons 34 on their return stroke is transmitted through a member 45 to the part 17 of the drive shaft, the reaction being transmitted by the shaft 17 to the housing through a bearing plate 53 rotating with the shaft and engaged by a member 48 screwed into the shaft and which is axially adjustable to bring the piston shoes 36 into engagement with the swash plate 37. In a modification, the shaft transmits the reaction through a ball to a rotating thrust plate provided with an axially adjustable plug for adjusting the shoe clearance. In a further modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the plug 56 transmits the reaction to an axially adjustable member which engages a thrust face on a member secured to the housing.
