Abstract
584,903. Brakes. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and TREVASKIS, H. W. Feb. 5, 1945, No. 2943. [Class 103 (i)] In wheel brake apparatus comprising brake shoes 11 movable radially to engage a drum 20 by a relatively narrow annular packing 6 expansible by pressure liquid supplied to an annular recess 4 formed in an annular support 3 of channel-section the pressure is transmitted to the shoes 11 by members 8 and a distensible tube 10 filled with an incompressible fluid such as oil or grease whereby the pressure is uniformly distributed and the shoes may be accommodated to drum distortions. The members 8 have a projecting part which is slidable in the recess 4. The tube 10 is supplied by a pipe 17 having a non- return valve 18 and the recess 4 by the connection 15. The shoes 11 are slidably anchored to the annular support 3 by projections which enter recesses in the side walls 2 of the support.
