Abstract

348,013. Brakes. LAVAUD, D. S. DE, 179, Rue de la Pompe, Paris. Dec. 27, 1929, No. 39621. Convention date, Dec. 27, 1928. [Class 103 (i).] Fluid-pressure blocks and shoes acting on drums.- Apparatus for transmitting or receiving fluid stresses applicable for use with motor vehicle brakes, comprises a distortable wall 7, rings 38 .. 41, and a piston 10 ; shoulders 34, 42, 43, 44 cause the rings to move in succession. The Specification as open to inspection under Sec. 91 (3) (a) comprises the use of helical springs or other annular devices between the wall and piston, the annular devices consisting of U-shaped rings 32, Fig. 4 (Cancelled) or of rings 40, Fig. 6 (Cancelled). The system comprises a device C, Fig. 1 (Cancelled), which is adjustable to vary the initial fluid pressure and compensating tanks having a valve 49, Fig. 11 (Cancelled), with a plate 51 perforated at 52. The tanks may be open to the atmosphere, partly filled with fluid under pressure, or provided with an adjustable spring- pressed member 53. A receiver B, Fig. 2 (Cancelled) has two pistons 24, 25 and two distortable walls 17, 18 engaging brake shoes 1, 2. A brake is also shown comprising a pair of brake shoes pivoted together with play in known manner and in which the other ends of the shoes abut respectively on a piston and on the head of a screw on the fixed cylinder of the piston. The brake drum has a member which projects into an annular groove in the fixed back plate of the brake to exclude mud and water. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
