Abstract

Fluid-pressure; blocks acting on drums.-In a braking system for vehicles with hydraulic transmission, the pistons of the transmitting and brake-operating cylinders are packed by means of bellows m, Fig. 3, which may consist of metal discs secured together at their outer and inner peripheries. Separate transmitting cylinders d<1>, d<2>, Fig. 2, connected to pipes e<1>, e<2> may be provided for the front and rear wheel brakes, respectively. A Chamber with a piston p adjustable by a screw g may be connected to the pipe e<1>, by means of which the front-wheel brakes can be adjusted to come into operation before the rear-wheel brakes. A single cylinder, Fig. 3, may be arranged between two brake shoes, the cylinder containing two pistons l<1>, the piston-rods of which carry heads l<2> engaging the brake shoes. Alternatively, the shoes f<1>, f<2>, Fig. 6, may be pivoted at diametrically opposite points and be operated by separate cylinders i', i<2>, Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 144,992.
