Abstract

583,945. Printing-machines. CLARKE, F. J. June 20, 1945, No. 15734. [Class 100 (ii)] Inking apparatus. To prevent slip between the bearer rails and the runners of the reciprocating inking roller of a platen press, the runners are provided with a groove 17 with tapered sides engaging the tapered sides of the bearer 18. The arms carrying the inking roller are of telescopic form containing a spring for holding the runners in contact with the bearers. The runners or the bearers or both may be surfaced with a fabric impregnated with an artificial resin.
