Abstract

583,301. Printing-machines; chases. STEVENS, A. H. (Miller Printing Machinery Co.). Oct. 17, 1944, No. 20067. [Classes 100 (ii) and 100 (iii)] To enable a printing-surface to be used which is equal to the length of the impression roller of a bed and cylinder machine, the sides 6 of a chase formed of bars 6, 7 are adapted to act as bearers, and the type can be set up in the chase before it is secured to the machine bed 2. The sides 6 are formed with machined tops 8 and with inclines 9 on which the bearers of the cylinder roll before engaging the tops 8. The bed is formed of an aluminium base 2 with a steel top which may be formed of two parts 3, 4, and the chase is secured in registered position on the bed by means of a projection 12 on the front bar 7 which is engaged by an undercut portion 11 of a bar 10 screwed to the bed, screw-clamps 13 pressing on the rear bar 7 to secure the chase in position.
