Abstract
<PICT:0583876/III/1> <PICT:0583876/III/2> The bottom 1 of a vacuum pan (Fig. 1) is provided with a centrally disposed, circular hole 2 and a discharge box 3, which extends inwardly to support a valve seat 4, and a conical valve 6, which projects into the pan through the hole. Formed integral with the discharge box is an annular chamber 15 having an inlet 16 for connection to the weak liquor supply, and an annular opening at the top through which the weak liquor passes into the pan. When the liquor is sufficiently concentrated the valve 6 is raised by rotation of shaft 9; this permits the passage of liquor to the discharge box 3 from which it is run off through outlet 14. In the modification shown in Fig. 4 the top of the annular chamber 15 is closed by the bottom of the pan; but is provided with a series of holes 25. Specification 511,485 is referred to.
