Abstract

582,564. Cartridge feed to automatic guns. VICKERS-ARMSTRONGS, Ltd., SWIFT,' T. R., and BODYCOMBE, W. A. June 13, 1944, No. 11304. [Class 92 (ii)] Cartridge belts are fed from fixed boxes 12 to passages 20 leading to a pair of machine guns through fixed guides 8a, 8b which merge into an arcuate platform 16 traversable with the gun mounting 1 in a bearing member 3. The belt tracks vary in length to suit the gun traverse whilst maintaining the feed between successive cartridges. The fixed guides 8a, 8b are supported by a spider frame 4 extending from-the bearing 3 and the moving platform 16 is connected with the gun mounting by arms 19. The ends of the platform 16 have sprockets 17 for guiding the belts into the passages 20.
