582,550. Valves. ATKINSON, C. W., (trading as ECLIPSE COPPER CO. OF YORK). May 18, 1944, No. 9533. [Class 135] The pilot burner 76 together with its gas cock 6 is mounted upon the plug 4 of an intermediate gas cock 3 in the main gas supply line 1, a separate main gas cock 8 also being provided. The gas passes to the pilot burner through a slot 5 in the plug 4 and a central passage (not shown) and the arrangement is such that the thumb piece 7 of the pilot cock will foul the casing 13 when it is not turned on to prevent rotation of the plug 4 by its handle 3a. When the pilot cock is turned on, the plug 4 can turn and the pilot burner 7b enters the slot 12 in the casing 13 to a position adjacent the main burners. The main cock 8 must be turned on for a full supply of gas, but when closed, a certain amount passes through a byepass passage 9 to provide a " simmering " flame. Screws 10 and 11 are provided for regulating the main and byepass passage.
