581,505. Screw pumps. SELF-PRIMING PUMP & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., STOW, E. W. T., and DAWSON, A. L. B. Aug. 2, 1944, No. 14782. [Class 110 (i)] A pump unit comprising a driving motor 18 and a multi-start impeller 27 is secured to the base 15 of a tank from which liquid is pumped through inlet ports 28 to a delivery 12, which may lead to a carburetter. A clamping ring 23 and bolts 24 secure the upper and lower casings together. A liquid - sealing gland 26 is provided. A bye-pass valve 129 is held up against its seat when the pump is operating, and falls by gravity when the pump stops, to provide an open passage-way for liquid. Liquid enters the pump through a filter 30. A passage 50 forms a " breather " for the motor. Specification 558,040 is referred to.
