579,846. Frames and cylinders. PETERSEN, O., and NIELSON, M. LINDBERG-. April 7, 1942, No. 4557. Convention date, May 31, 1941. [Class 7 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVI] Cylindrical cross head guides 32, which are bolted to the underside of a longitudinal frame girder 3, are centred with the cylinder liners by coaxial surfaces 30, 31 produced at one machining set-up, their lower ends being supported laterally by collars 36 secured to frame plates 35 and preferably split and provided with packing 37. The piston rod 14 is flanged at both ends and cooling fluid flows through pipes 16 attached to the flanges and telescoping on fixed pipes 39. The frame 3 may act as an air receiver by having closed sides and a cover plate 17 provided with packing for the piston rod and the pipes 16, scavenging air being transferred to the cylinder through piston . controlled ports 12. The space 41 below the cover plate 17 may act as a pump space, suction and delivery valves being fitted at the side of an opening 42.
