Abstract
579,546. Two-part couplings. CRABTREE & CO., Ltd., J. A., HARRISON, B. G., and HILL, W. E. May 26, 1944, No. 10287. [Class 38 (i)] Clamp member a, a<1> forming a socket of the character set out in Specification 552,503, and comprising a channel-like centre part and tubular ends adapted to receive the pluglike ends of conductors, are prevented from collapsing and distortion of the tubular ends, by pressing in the side walls a<2> at the point where the fixing screw b is fitted. A spring d and retaining washer c are also provided, as described in Specification 569,983. Instead of side walls a<2> being pressed inwards, a sleeve may be fitted on the screw b between the members a, a<1>, Fig. 3 (not shown), or indentations may be made in the side walls of these members at the junctions between the semicircular and channel portions, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown), or the side walls may be of increased thickness. In further modifications, Figs. 6-9 (not shown), tongues or circular rims, adapted closely to embrace the screw, are produced when the holes for the screw b are formed in the members a, a<1>
