[Class 46] An arrangement for filling lubricating oil for topping up purposes in a system in which oil is circulated from and to a reservoir such as for an internal combustion engine lubrication system or for a gun turret, comprises a container having therein a filter giving a large filtration surface, of the order of 100 times the area of the filling- cap aperture, with sufficient space above to hold a normal topping up charge of oil As shown a container 1 with domed cover 1a and filling-cap 10 and provided with a pleated-fabric filter screen 4 is mounted on the overhead-valve gear casing 2 of an internal combustion engine by brackets 7, the filtered oil passing to the valvegear by an aperture 3. The container may instead be mounted on the dashboard of a motor car and connected by a flexible pipe to the crank case. The filling aperture is shown forwardly inclined. Specifications 173,894 and 213,646, [both in Class 46], are referred to.
