Abstract
577,808. Wringers. SNELLING, J. E. Dec. 11. 1943, No. 20782. [Class 138 (ii)] Pressure is applied to the rollers 11 of a wringer by means of two coaxial torsion bar springs 20 mounted on the machine frame, the outer ends of the springs having crank arms 24 acting on the bearings 9 of the rollers 11 whilst the inner ends of the springs are cranked for applying a torsional force to the bars. In the construction shown the cranked inner ends 25 are fixed to a hand lever 26. The spring bars are carried in bearings formed as relatively reversed hooks 22, 23 so that the bars can be readily inserted and removed. The hand lever is held in any desired position by means of a spring-loaded pawl 28 adapted to engage teeth 27 formed on the frame a, which is constructed of steel pressings as described in Specification 577,807. According to the Provisional Specification the pawl may be slidable on the hand lever instead of pivoted thereto.
