Sliding-jaw wrenches. -A wrench of the type in which one of the jaws is provided with a rack and is adjusted through an interposed pinion by means of a handle having its forward end formed as a gear segment comprises a movable jaw 18 the shank 17 of which slides between spaced parallel arms 11 extending from a fixed jaw 12 and is formed with a rack 16 engaging a pinion 9 mounted between the arms 11 and in mesh with the toothed end 8 of a handle 5 pivoted at 14 between the arms. The shank 17 is guided by means of grooved extensions 22 projecting from the jaw 12 co-operating with grooved cross pieces 24 connecting pairs of spaced ears 23 extending from the arms 11.
